PRAYER FOR PRIESTS.

Divine Saviour, Jesus Christ, who have entrusted your work of redemption to the priests, who take your place on earth. I offer you, through the hands of your most holy mother for the sanctification of your priests and future priests this whole day, all my prayers, works, joys, sacrifices and sufferings. Give us saintly priests. Grant to them apostolic hearts, filled with love for you and all the souls belonging to you, so that, being themselves sanctified in you, they may sanctify us who are entrusted to their care and bring us safely into heaven.  Loving Jesus, bless all their prayers and words at the altar and in the confessional, in the pulpit, in the school and at the sickbed. Call many young men to the priesthood and monastic life. Protect and sanctify all who will become your priests. And grant to the souls of the priests who have departed this life, eternal rest. And to you, Mary, Mother of all priests, take them under your special protection and lead them ever to the highest priestly sanctity. Amen.

WHO IS MARY?

Mary was the daughter of St Joachim and St Anne. She was presented in the temple by her parents when she was three years old. She was educated in the Temple where she stayed for twelve years. Mary was bethrothed to a man named Joseph. Mary said “YES” when an angel visited her to announce she was going to be the Mother of Jesus. She gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem.

When Jesus was presented in the Temple, a man named Simeon told Mary:

“A SWORD WILL PIERCE YOUR HEART.”

When she heard these words, Mary kept them in her heart. Standing at the foot of the Cross, she must have remembered these words. As Jesus was dying on the cross, he entrusted Mary to the care of St John. Mary was with the Apostles in the Cenacle when the Holy Spirit descended upon them. It is believed that when Mary died, her body was assumed into heaven.

Mary has titles associated with dogma such as Immaculate Conception, Mother of God and Assumption. She also has names associated with devotions and apparitions such as Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Our Lady of Lourdes, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Piat, Our Lady of Manaoag and of course, our very own, the miraculous image of OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY OF LA NAVAL DE MANILA, whois the PATRONESS OF THE DOMINICAN PROVINCE OF THE PHILIPPINES IN SANTO DOMINGO CHURCH, QUEZON CITY.
